Featured Makeup Artist: Hafsah @MakeUpByHafsah

For my next post, I would like to introduce, Hafsah.

Bit about me:
Hi guys! My name is Hafsah and I am proud to say that I am a self-taught
makeup artist based in Birmingham, England.

What do you like the most about being a Make-up Artist?

I have always loved the concept of makeup’s power to enhance the human
features. The power to change a person’s appearance for the sake of
enhancing one’s self-esteem is just a beautiful theory and I would love to
be apart of creating such positivity as long as I can! The best thing
about being a makeup artist, is that I play a great part in imitating
makeup looks that make all of us ‘normal’ beings feel like that stunning
celebrity; everyone deserves to feel special and I can help do just that,
which is indescribably rewarding!

What I like least about being a make-up Artist?

I have nothing to dislike as a makeup artist! The only one inconvenience
is that the job is quite seasonal (As a makeup artist, you will realize
most bookings are confirmed during Spring-Summer. Simply because most
people book for occasions in seasons which provide the luck of better
weather :D)

Do you have any make-up advice that you would like to share with us?

If your crazy about makeup or just comfortable with the necessary items,
here are some tips about makeup and it’s usage from yours truly.

7 Items Necessary for any makeup kit:

1. *A great foundation* (I like to Use ‘MAC’ foundations in mineralize (For
a hydrated look creating buildable coverage designed for dry-normal skin),
Select SPF (A liquid formula which creates build able coverage designed for
normal skin types) & Studio Sculpt (A gel based foundation great for dry
skin types, it enables a buildable coverage and gives gorgeous hydration
to the skin) & ‘Estee Lauder’ double coverage (For a full coverage,
flawless look designed for normal skin).

2.*Lipstick/Lip Balm* It’s always helpful to have a natural lipstick shade
flexibly wearable for a casual & dressy look! For those of you who hate
lipsticks, switch for a lip balm (My current favorites are ‘EOS’ in Mint
(this has no color to it great to provide a natural moisturized look) &
‘The Body Shop lip moisturizer’ in Passion fruit (these are tinted too).
For those of you who love lipsticks, be brave and add a bold colors to
your bag (There is a red that suits everybody! You just need to try before
you buy) These will come in handy for gorgeous classic, bold looks!

3. *Blusher* Applying a little color to the cheeks enhance the cheekbones
and creates the impression of an elegant flushed look! If you’re brave
enough look into bronzers, blushers & highlighters to give contouring a go
(There is lots of amazing YouTube step-by-step guides out there to attain
an amazing method of application)!

4. *Eyeliners*: A liquid liner is a must in my bag for creating the
dramatic winged liner look to just lining eye to open or close in the
eye! (I love the L’Oreal Hypo-allergenic liner: great for sensitive eyes
and creates an amazing matte, sleek line!) Pencil Liners are great to add
depth to any eye makeup and are available in every color you can possibly
think of (I love AVON color trend liners for their affordability and
their amazing creamy textures).

5. *Eye shadows* Not many people are confident enough with eye shadows but
it’s time to be daring ladies! You can get natural to dramatic shades of
shadows; depending on your skin tone there is something out there for
everyone! I would recommend a great palette. Again for affordability and
amazing performance, check out ‘Sleek Eye shadow Palettes’ (for colorful
palettes) & ‘Urban Decay Naked Palettes’ (For beautiful natural shades).

6. *Mascara* store one of these in your makeup bag ladies to smoke out the
eye and to help your eyes stand right out! (Check out the Maybelline range
for great gorgeous mascaras!)

7. *Eyelashes* I come across a lot of people who are scared about using
false eyelashes! Understandably, many people have never worn them before
and can speculate that they may hurt when applied or when removing them
from the eyelid.  Honestly apart from feeling heavy for the first 5
minutes you wear them (for the first time only) there is nothing to be
scared of! Eyelashes are a must for completing a dressy look amazingly!
(I’m loving Eyemimo Eyelashes of course; my favorites have to be NTR04
for a lengthened, light look & NTR53 for a more dense, dramatic look. I
apply these using either DUO eyelash adhesive or Eylure Eyelash Glue).

(Please Note: You don’t need to spend a fortune on these products : search
for dupes for the higher end brands to grab yourself something more
pocket-efficient products without sacrificing the quality of its
performance).

Is there anything else you want to share with us?

Although I LOVE makeup and can never get bored of the 1000’s of products
set out to draw us in! It is important for me to emphasize that regular
usage of makeup can’t be too good. I would not recommend the use of
makeup every single day we all need to let our skin breathe and ensure
it’s cleanliness to avoid premature aging, break outs etc. It is
important to look after your skin hand in hand with dressing it with
makeup when needed. I’ll wrap up my blog here and thank you all for
reading and hope you learned a thing or two about makeup! :-*
