Makeup Artist, Do master the Contouring & Highlighting!

I learn about face contouring back in the day when late celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin released his amazing book, Making Faces, showing many models in such an amazing and unbelievable transformation because of contouring & highlighting technique he used based on the face shape of the models. Until this day, I do still keep the book. I would say it’s a must book for makeup artist who wants to master the art of face contouring.

Now, since I am active with social media, I am seeing the comeback of contouring & highlighting. Maybe, it never actually went away, but with today’s social media, things seems showing up so intense. Many tutorials on YouTube or picture on picture based social media can be used to learn the technique.

There’s probably a misunderstanding about face contouring & highlighting that it should only be reserved for a very special occasions. I personally use the contouring & highlighting technique almost in daily basis depending how rush I have to get out of the house, but in a very subtle way that I will only use powder-based. It just helps to create dimension instead of looking flat.

For Makeup Artist, I really highly recommend to master the art of face contouring & highlighting. It is like a basic skill requirement to be in the beauty industry.
