This month’s Featured Makeup Artist goes to fellow West Coast, up from the state of Washington, Lacey Scheidel. Without further ado, please find below our Qs and As with Lacey.
Eyemimo: Please tell us about yourself?
Lacey: First and foremost I am a wife and mother, a licensed makeup artist and hairstylist in both Oregon and Washington. Living in Vancouver, Washington.
My passion for hair and makeup started at a young age where my mother worked in a salon, I knew this is where I wanted to be. Twenty short days after my high school graduation I made my dreams a reality and started Cosmetology school. My love for weddings came well into my career, something I had always dabbled in but never took the leap to dive in head first until a few years ago. Weddings allow me to showcase my work on the most beautiful women.
Outside of weddings I do hair and makeup behind the chair in Vancouver. I love finding the best happy hour deals and trying new restaurants with my family.

Eyemimo: What do you like the most and the least being a makeup artist?
Lacey: The thing I love most about being a makeup artist is being a part of making people feel great about themselves on a daily basis. With weddings I am there to put my work in a photograph that will last a lifetime, it’s an honor that people put their trust in me.
I am not sure there is a downfall to being a makeup artist, I guess I would have to say you spend most of your summer weekends booked with events, but when you love what you do it’s not really “work”.

Eyemimo: Do you have any makeup advice that you would like to share with us?
Lacey: My advice is please invest in a good skincare line, nothing makes my job easier than a smooth face to apply makeup to. My second piece of advice is DO NOT I repeat DO NOT be afraid of lashes, a lot of people think they will be too over the top, but they can look natural, I mostly use EXT02 (cluster lashes) by Eyemimo.

Eyemimo: Is there anything else you want to share with us? such as the highlight moment of your career?
Lacey: Makeup isn’t meant to be a mask, it’s meant to accentuate the beauty that is already there. My goal is to make people feel beautiful and more confident when they leave my chair. The biggest reward is having someone walk away with a huge smile on their face.
